Meet Premal Shah, founder and president of Kiva, the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website. Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty. Individuals can make loans to low-income entrepreneurs across the world, using the power of the internet to facilitate one-to-one connections that were previously prohibitively expensive. The people who receive the loans are then able to make great strides towards economic independence, improving their lives as well as those of their family and their community. John Grant – one of the UK’s leading thinkers on 21st century co-operation and green marketing – will join Premal to offer some UK perspectives.
Premal will be in London as part of NESTA’s Silicon Valley comes to the UK programme on Wednesday 18th November. Please join us to find out more about the Kiva story, and what the future holds for peer-to-peer finance and social investment.
Time: 5:30 - 6:30pm (Registration from 5.00pm)
